By chance or on purpose you have stumbled upon my research portfolio, creative journal and collection of miscellaneous writings. Once upon a time I created this blog to share my academic work. It has gradually morphed into a multifaceted space where I share whatever I feel like sharing. This includes creative pieces, reviews of books and films, and travel writing.

I’m a learning & development specialist and independent scholar who has always found the “academic” label too confining. So I’ve published academic articles and a monograph but also write blogs about metal music and beach walks. During the day I help people to learn and grow in their chosen careers. This blog is a celebration of creativity, a playground where I experiment with new writing, and a collection of writings about things I feel more people should know about.

I also write fiction. My novella Hell was shortlisted for the MsLexia Novella Prize 2018, and I was shortlisted for National Centre for Writing‘s Escalator programme in 2020. Hell is available to sample and buy here, there, and from your preferred ebook retailer.

I love reviewing books and films, with a preference for independent creations. I’m always interested to hear about new works to write about!

Sip that tea, take a biscuit, or several biscuits, and feel free to have a look around. Have fun. Love books. Enjoy!
